Council Meetings & Minutes

  The Ridley Park Borough Council met in regular session on the above date in the Community Room of Ridley Park Borough Hall. Council President Perry Artese called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by President Perry Artese.

ROLL CALL

Council members present: Mr. Artese, Mrs. Hopper, Mr. Pinto, Mr. Purcell, Mr. Wolhafe, Mr. Wright and Mayor Eberle. Also present Charles Catania, Jr./Engineer and Mr. Raffaele, Esq./Solicitor. Mr. Rahn and Chief Byrne were absent.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

FINANCE & INSURANCE/BUDGET – MRS. HOPPER (COPY ATTACHED)

Mrs. Hopper reported the Finance Report for the month of February 2007 and she stated that the Year to Date report would be available in the Borough Office for anyone wishing to review it. She stated that the Borough Manager and Council are finished working with the auditors for 2006 and the audit would be available for review in the spring of 2007.

Mr. Wright made a motion to accept the Finance & Insurance/Budget report, seconded by Mr. Pinto.

No Comments from Council.

Carried by a vote of 6-0.

PUBLIC PROPERTIES/PUBLIC SAFETY – MR. PINTO

Mr. Pinto reported that he was happy to announce that the library renovations and repairs are completed. He stated that the contractor should have his equipment removed by week’s end.

Mr. Pinto reported that under the Emergency Management they would be organizing/reorganizing the Emergency Committee. The committee would meet to discuss the current emergency plans as they relate to the growing needs of the Borough.

Mr. Pinto stated that the monthly report for the Fire Department is on file at the Borough Hall.
Mr. Pinto reported that the Shade Tree Commission met on Monday, March 12th in the Borough Hall. He announced that the Ridley Park Tree Revitalization that was originally scheduled for March 24th has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 21st. He stated that the notice has been placed in the Town Talk and approximate fifty trees would be planted at specific sites throughout the borough. He stated that planting would take place along one hundred block of W. Ridley Avenue on the north side, Swarthmore Avenue along the odd number side of the street starting at number 15 and Chester Pike west of Swarthmore Avenue. Mr. Pinto announced that volunteers are asked to meet at the Borough Garage at 9:00 A.M. On Saturday, March 31stof the CRC would assist in the commissioning of the Ridley Park Lake Watershed program, Phase II. Mr. Pinto announced that volunteers are needed and are asked to meet at the lake by 9:00 A.M. Mr. Pinto announced that on Saturday, April 14th the Shade Tree Commission will be planting shrubs and trees

Mr. Wolhafe made a motion to accept the Public Properties/Pubic Safety report, seconded by Mr. Wright.

Carried by a vote of 6-0.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT/HISTORIC PRESERVATION – MR. PURCELL

Mr. Purcell reported that H.A.R.B. would be having their regular schedule meeting this Thursday, March 22nd in the Borough Hall at 7:00 P.M.

Mr. Purcell reported that the Planning Commission would meet next Wednesday, March 28th at 8:00 P.M. in the Borough Hall. He stated that the purpose of the meeting is for a final development plan for 307 W. Sellers Avenue.

Mr. Purcell reported at the next Workshop meeting Tuesday, April 3rd there would be a presentation by Lee Senior from County Planning on the new Zoning Ordinance. He stated it would be presented to Council as a whole for discussion with some of the changes from the original code to the updated version. Mr. Purcell announced that it is a public meeting and open to the public.

Mr. Purcell announced that the Ridley Park Historical Society is hosting their annual Spring Tea on Saturday, April 29th in the afternoon. Anyone interest should contact the Historic Society hotline at 610-521-9136.
