Located approximately five miles south of the City of Philadelphia along busy I-95 in Delaware County PA, the RPFD protects approximately 7,500 citizens residing in the Borough of Ridley Park. Through mutual aid assignments, we also provide fire suppression and rescue services to the neighboring municipalities of Prospect Park, Tinicum Twp., and portions of Ridley Twp., on a 1st Alarm basis.
The RPFD is an ISO class 5 fire department, staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers manning one engine truck, a ladder truck, and a rescue truck. Within our first alarm district reside schools, hotels, churches, nursing homes, large multi-story apartment buildings, commuter/commercial rail lines, a hospital and a wide variety of commercial and single family dwellings; not to mention one of the busiest interstate corridors in the nation as well as portions of Philadelphia International Airport.
Needless to say, the challenges we face are many. Our dedicated members sacrifice a tremendous amount of personal time to maintain the level of readiness needed to adequately protect our community. This website is a tribute to them, and firefighters everywhere who do the same for their communities. Please take a moment to browse our site. In the process, we hope you not only have fun, but also learn something about the fire service, and the Ridley Park Fire Department.
